I was looking at the iphone and it says a regular 3.5mm headphone jack is compatible with the iphone? is this true because my friend is saying that you need an adapter for it to work. Sorry if this question is already asked.

The size of the metal part of the headphone jack is 3.5mm but it is recessed into the iphone. If the casing around the outside of the metal part of the jack is too large it will prevent the jack from fully entering the jack on the iphone.

I couldnt use my sony earbud's that i used to use on my ipod photo because the jack was bent at 90 degrees and didnt allow it to go into the iphone jack completely.
