Iphone heated up and died after charging

Here's the problem...

I have had my phone for about 5 months, and recently charged it like any other time. However, after about 10 minutes, I checked on its progress and noticed it was extremely hot to the touch, too hot to hold in my hand. I unplugged it and let it cool down, but now it is off and unresponsive. What the heck happened?? Please help me out!

Sounds like your battery malfunctioned. Take it to the Apple store.
