I've had my iPhone 3GS for around 7 months now and up until the last 2 weeks it's been brilliant.

In the last couple of weeks I have been having a lot of problems with the phone turning it's self on and either phoning people or starting the iPod when it's been in my pocket. After a few days of trying to work out how it was doing this I found the other day when I was cleaning the screen with a cloth that the phone came on.

I thought this was odd and after playing with it for a few minutes I discovered that I can turn my iPhone on by just touching the screen towards the bottom end of it. After touching it a few more times the voice control activated. I tried rubbing the screen with the cloth again and sure enough the phone came to life again and back to the voice control.

So I'm guessing the phone is rubbing against my leg when it's in my pocket, starting the voice control and then either phoning someone or starting the iPod from the noise it's picking up. It's even activated the voice control when it's been sat on the desk with no one touching it twice now. I put the pin code lock on to see if that would stop it but it's still doing the same thing.

I've also noticed when I'm sending a text or an email that the phone drops back to the home screen quite often and sometimes goes to my contacts favourites.

I'm going to take it back to the shop on Monday, I'm just hoping it will do it when I show it to them, it does not do it all the time but during the course of the day at work it will usually start the iPod 3-4 times and phone someone at least twice. It's got the point now where I have just turned it off when I don't need to use it.

Has anyone else had this problem or have heard of this problem before? The phone is in as new condition, it's never been dropped or anything like that. I've tried doing a restore and it's made no difference.

Thanks for any help :)
