Hi All...noobie here:

I tried searching for a half hour to find nothing...I'm a new iPhone user from a blackberry and one thing that I'm trying to do is to get the little notification icons on the Home/Lock screen that tell me I have a missed call, text message, email, etc. without having to put in my passcode. Is there "an app for that"...I don't want to have to jailbreak the phone.

Thanks,
Woody.

That's a jailbreak only feature, it's called status notifier.. haven't jailbroken in 2 years so it may have changed names..

You will find that the iOS notification system is one of the main features people are requesting an overhaul for... but as stated above, what you are requesting is currently only available with a jailbreak

Yep, iOS is cosmetically appealing and it does what it does well, unfortunately, it is sorely lacking and/or limited..

Wait till the summer and iOS 5. Fingers crossed the next iteration of the software will feature a completely overhauled notification system
