Iphone IMEI Unlock

Im aware that in france you can buy iphones unlocked and apple uses itunes to unlock iphones by their IMEI number Right ?

Well say if i got hold of a french unlocked iphones IMEI and changed my UK non-activated iphones IMEI to that french 1 would itunes activate and unlock my UK iphone ?

I know changing the IMEI is illegal its just something which ive been thinking about

Most likely not. You could however just unlock your UK iPhone for free with any of the multitude of software options available.

Ye i know about the other sim unlock solutions i was just curious about weather you could use a french unlocked IMEI to unlock because as far as i am aware of you would not have to worry about apple releasing a software update to stop us from unlocking our iphones and it would be cool if i didn't have to reactivate and unlock after an update
