iPhone in Germany questions

I have just a couple of questions regarding an American iPhone I bought on ebay to use here in Germany with T-mobile DE.

I have a pay as you go SIM card for T-Mobile, and I'm planning on unlocking my newly bought 2G to use it. Is this possible?

Can I unlock the iPhone without a SIM card?
Will the pay as you go work? I can buy date in low usages, and I can use my wifi.


For my last question, can someone tell me how to make sure NO data is transmitted? I don't want to rack up bills on data.
