I will be in Israel for a couple of weeks and wondered if I will be able to use Google Earth and/or Maps to help in finding my way in Cities or for directions generally without incurring the expensive roaming charges from AT & T. My plan is to use Skype for phone calls when I have wifi access. When I'm not somewhere with wifi, will I be able to use Google Earth or Maps?
thanks
Gerry

Both the Maps app and Google Earth access map data from the Google servers (maps are not stored on the iPhone), so if you don't have a WiFi connection you'll have to use the cellular data connection to get any map data, which will probably result in a large bill.

Google Maps has data for some of the major cities, such as Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, so most of the time you should be able to on wifi. I'm not sure about the data charges on roaming though. It could get expensive.
