You guys were great in helping me find service whilst I was in London.Im going on a birthright trip for 2 weeks wanted to know if anyone has used pelephone,Orange,or Cellcom. And if anyone could recommend what plans to use what networks have good service etc.

I don't have any advice on phone use but I just finished watching Restoring Courage, a special Glenn Beck put together on his trip to Israel and I wish you a wonderful and safe journey. My prayers are with you.

I'd probably go the route of the prepaid plans available out here. Pelephone, Cellcom and Orange all have comparable options, quality and helpfulness.

I'd suggest hopping in and grabbing a regular sim, put 100 NIS on there, take a quick trip to the mall, have a kiosk cut the sim for you (20 NIS) and you're all set. Just keep in mind you will not have 3G data, a contract is required for that. Have a great time here, the weather is gorgeous this time of year!

No 3G yikes so what will I have EDGE?Oh well Im more or else excited to see Israel

Unfortunately neither 3G or Edge, it's setup like a typical AT&T GoPhone. Call and SMS are the only options included. I will inquire with a buddy of mine who works for one of the providers to see if they've added data to their prepaid plans, though I wouldn't keep my hopes high.

As a consolation, we have an absurd amount of wifi hotspots within the cities themselves but if you travel to the villages, kibbutzim or beyond the green line - no dice.

Cool so what If I keep my AT&T simcard would I roam on the data network?

I went on Birthright and met my fiance. Needless to say...awesome experience.

I know this isn't on topic, but I actually chose not to have a cell phone on the trip. Everybody else had one, and it was really nice being "off the grid" for 10 days. Unless you really need one, I'd avoid using your phone on the trip and just enjoy the experience.

I, personally, wouldn't even consider it. Even with the specific international roaming data plan - the prices are exorbitant.

Cellcom has recently added data to their prepaid plans.

100 MB - 40 NIS ~ $10
200 MB - 80 NIS ~ $20

Keep in mind these prices are in addition to the call/SMS charges.

Good luck and enjoy your trip to this interesting part of the world!

Yeah they rent the micro sim not the whole phone I can have my cousin add me to his Pelephone plan

Got ya :)

Didnt know if you were looking for a prepaid plan or not.

Good luck, I can not wait to go back to Israel.

Yeah I wasnt aware you couldn't do prepaid like in England.Whereas 3 UK was cheap and reliable.Israel prepaid doesn't seem economical to me
