iPhone in Paris

i know theres already threads about using your iPhone abroad but ... well .... i cant find them haha

SO im off to Paris next week and i want to use my iPhone (UK) over there BUT i dont want the phone downloading or updating the weather or email or maps or stuff while im over there. cos i got a text from O2 saying that it cost £7 or something per MB to download

haha SOOOOOOO how do i go about switching all that guff off so i can ONLY use it for CALLING and TEXT and maybe a little bit of WiFi ?!?!?!

p.s. Also im getting the bolt on that lets me receive calls free AND 25p per text or something

Turn off "edge roaming," which is located somewhere in the settings menu.

Setting>General>Network

Make sure Data Roaming is turned off (it is by default).
