Hi, is there a chance to use (connect) internet from the iPhone to be able to go online with my MBP? I know that Nokia and SE have the option without any trouble (you just connect it through a cable) so I was wondering if I could do the same with iPhone? Anyone knows?

any chance someone will write application that will allow it without the jailbreak? I just don't understand why wouldn't Apple allow it as it will increase my use of their products. I would eventually like to have the nice products from Apple only if they get reasonable :D

Where are you based? O2 in the UK are allowing tethering on their network.

Same thing here in Germany, with the new iPhone contract we can use our data plan with other devices. The question is: will there be an official method/app etc. to tether or do we have to jailbreak/buy a usb umts modem with multisim.

Not an Apple issue. Its the phone carrier that decides this.

I'm based in UK so you made me very happy. The only thing I would also like is that when I go on holiday (I'm going to Italy this summer) I would like to be able to send something when I'm there. :(

Yes, I was talking about 3g iPhone as I am gonna get it as soon as they release it (11th july). Also waiting for Montevina to be released :D

Data abroad on o2 is about £6 per MB, unless you want to come home and see a bill for god knows how much I wouldnt :)
