Hi there,

a friend of mine has an iPhone SE with what looks like the latest iOS updates. Neither me or her are iOS experts, so forgive my ignorance please.

Point being that her Mac that she is using to transfer data from the iPhone to the Mac via iTunes is an iMac from 2009. The latest High Sierra 10.13.6 is installed and she updated iTunes to the latest version. Still, macOS complains that she can't administrate the iPhone anymore since the iOS version is too new for her older version of macOS. Should that be the case that obviously be a problem since on her older iMac she can't update to Mojave.

Is this even correct? My understanding is that she can continue to use the old iMac and High Sierra with her iPhone as long as iTunes is up to date?

There is a supplemental download that you need to use iOS12 on iTunes. Go to Apple’s site and redownload iTunes and it should fix your issue
