i have photos that i have synced to my iphone the day i bought it.. back in oct. 2009... now since i updated those photos are pixelated .... and no longer smooth and clear.. do i have to remove the photos from the phone and then reapply them..or save the photos on a different format?...

I had the same issue. I told iTunes to not sync photos and remove them from the phone. Then I resynced. After doing that some strange things occurred....

1) photos were no longer pixelated (i.e.: it showed the full-res version instead of the blown-up thumbnail)

2) I went from having just "Albums, Faces, and Places" at the bottom to having "Albums, Events, Faces, and Places".

3) Some "Faces" showed all-black photos.

So I then did a restart and voila, everything looked good.

What I don't know is if the restart would have fixed it all to begin with.
 
All I can see in my Photos gallery is Albums and Places, but I figured it was because i don't use iPhoto on my Macbook. So I'm not too worried about it, but you might be onto something here..
