iPhone/iPhoto..photos not importing

Plugged iPhone in, iTunes launches, iPhoto launches. iPhoto shows iPhone and shows all available photos to import but doesn't give a thumbnail preview/graphic. Makes it hard to select what to import from the iPhone into iPhoto if I can't see it. Any ideas?
