iPhone IPOD app question

Never having an iPod or similar device I'm a bit confused:

I listen mostly to podcasts. When the podcast ends it goes to the next one. Is there some way for it to just STOP PLAYING anything more after the current podcast completes? I've tried the "shuffle" and "replay" buttons but nothing causes the current podcast to STOP when complete.

Also ... is there a way to delete a podcast (or song) without connecting to a computer?

Looking at the users guide it SEEMS the answer to both the above are NO.

to delete, swipe your finger to the right on the podcast you want to delete, and press delete

Nope .. that only works for videos. Not music or podcasts.
