Will the iPhone and an iPod sync fine with the same computer, or is it the same when tryin to sync 2 iPods??? (iTunes will tell you to delete before allowing a 2nd iPod sync w/ iTunes)

I have eight iPods and an iPhone and I sync them all to the same mac.

No problem at all.

You can't sync more than 1 iPod through iTunes.... I'm talking about through iTunes, not iPoddisk or any of those programs: Is iPhone considered an "ipod" through iTunes, only allowing it and no other iPods to sync?

I have 4 ipods that i sync through itunes, and have never had any issues. The only thing you cant do is have more than one ipod connected at once, but even then who updates 2 ipods at the same exact time.

Yes you can... I just told you, I have EIGHT iPods and I sync them all through iTunes. Keep in mind, they aren't all connected at once...if they were, then there will be a problem. However, with one at a time, there is no problem at all.

Exactly!

you may want to know what you are talking about before you bring this up, you could sync one billion ipods with the same itunes account. and if you have a billion im stealing some

Ok, then tell me this... I can sync my ipod fine. When I plug in my girlfriend's iPod, it basically tells me that I have to erase and resync it... I don't remember exactly what it said but I think its so we don't share music..

I have always sync 2 ipods (and now my iphone) with itunes with no problems.

If I remember correctly, you can sync mutliple ipod to 1 computer but not 1 ipod to multiple computers.

legaleye2005, if your gf syncs her ipod on her computer, and then comes over by you and tries to sync, that would cause the problems you're having.

Ok, I see... so you can sync a billion ipods to the same computer but as long as you don't sync with other computers...? So syncing an ipod and iphone only with my 1 computer wouldn't matter because its only me its syncing with...

Yep.

Also, those syncing problems can be avoided by turning off sync and using manual on both computers. Then you and your gf should be able to share music.

sync both iPhone and iTunes

hey! can anyone of you tell me how to sync both iPhone and iPod in one iTunes? I'm a bit helpless about it... tnx!

Plug them in and let it sync. :)

I've got 3 iPods and an iPhone and use individual playlists to sync with each iPod or iPhone. Just deselect "All songs and playlists" and select the playlists you want to use on each device.

And I've never had a problem connecting multiple iPods to iTunes at the same time.

I've got one for ya! I and my girlfriend have both got I-Pods and have had them for a number of years. When we got our ipods we weren't together so they were syned with different PC’s, we then got a new PC and never synced one or the other and have manually been updating things… Ok so now I want an i-phone and I imagine that I will need to sync the phone with I-Tunes is that correct or will I be able to manually manage it like I do our i-pods and will it cause problems with either device??

I know it sounds a bit stupid but I wanna make sure I know what I am doing before I get one and mess everything off and looses tracks on my i-pod.

Couldn't you have 2 user accounts on the same computer, each with their own music library/iTunes? It wouldn't be the same library you're synching, but you'd be able to synch both to the same physical hardware...

How will this work with apps? If I play a game on my iPhone and sync and then sync with iPod touch. Will the same app on the iPod Touch have the game save I was playing on iPhone?

iTunes doesn't recognize iPhone

whenever i plug the phone, itunes doesnt respond/detect it..

Look at each end of the sync cable connector (not the USB connector), and the slot in the bottom of your iPhone. My family and I have found that lint, dust, hair, and other assorted pollutants gather in those small places, eventually causing the connectors not to connect. I recommend a Qtip with a very small amount of rubbing alcohol applied to the outside, then quickly drying it and blowing air into the opening. Basically, very gently clean it out, and make sure you do not disturb the pins, or you may permanently damage your phone.
This recently happened to me, and this fixed it right up.

I am not too sure what version of the iPhone or Ipod everyone else who is successful with syncing 2 together, but i know you can NOT sync 2 iPhones on 1 iTunes account. Your account is linked to your iPhone so if you add another, it will delete everything you have on itunes and act as if you have a completely new iPhone. unless you have an older iPhone where syncing is not needed. When you plug in an iPhone that is not registered with that users account it will ask, "would you like to authorize this device on this computer? you can authorize up to 5 computers. Please be advised this will delete all saved content for this account." If you click yes it will delete everything but purchased items will remain in itunes server for re-download. I have 2 computers at my house so i just remotely transfered settings back, but if you dont you will have to compress your back up and send an e-mail to the new authorized computer. My iPhone is my iPod so im not sure how ipod syncing works, but if its anything like an iPhone i would hesitate.

Unless you are a hacker i wouldn't recommend what these other hackers suggest because it will be easier for them to correct their mistake.
