Guys I'm here chillin, sitting at my desk.. And I just picked my iPhone up and it was burning hot! Not just normally not like it does while charging sometimes.. I've not uses it in say 30-40mins.. It has just been sitting there on standby.. The whole handset it HOT.. It's way over normal temp..

There is nothing around it to hear it up.. It's in open air too.. It's abnormal heat - WEIRD!

2 possible answers:
1) It's faulty, take it back to Apple and get it replaced.
2) There is something heating it up that you don't realise. Was it lying in the sun?

"Very Hot" and "Fire" are two different things.

if you have another device around you with a camera, document it for evidence incase you have to go to the Apple Store in future (video would be even better).

Here is an Apple Support page for that issue, thought its odd because you say it was just sitting on your desk.

If you're the last person to post, just edit that post. There's no need to post a million times.

Sounds like you're phone is defective. Take it to Apple and see what they say about replacing it.

The only time ive ever gotten that screen is when i left my phone on the banister outside on a 90 degree day last summer...it's definitely not good that you are getting it in a house....take that crap to apple.

Running iOS 5? If certain things are left running in the background (at least with beta 1) the iPhone can get very hot, especially when carried in a pocket. I listen to a radio station on-line every morning using safari, and usually I just disconnect the headphone jack from my phone and the audio stops, and I just stick the phone in my pocket. With beta 1 it would get very hot (as in it was too uncomfortable to keep in my pocket) and my battery would drain very quickly unless I completely closed safari.
