iphone just goes to black screen when i try to unlock

i upgraded to the new software today and the phone wasn't unlocking everytime on the first try. now though, it won't unlock at all... it just goes to a black screen. i''ve turned it off and on twice... anyone else having this problem? any tips? any help is appreciated....
