iPhone 16/Plus iPhone just need camera zoom

I really like the base iPhone 16 quite a bit but only thing keeping me from getting it is no zoom camera. That means I am forced to get the pro which is much heavier. Do you think the iPhone 17 will get the zoom 3x or 5x. Also is digital zoom still as bad as it was in the past when taking videos of kids etc with quite a bit of resolution loss thx

And I want the opposite. A cheaper iPhone with a large display and a camera that could be the one from an iPhone 6 or maybe even 5s.

What now?

Most people are not pro photographers and the standard camera is already much too good (and expensive) for their needs.

Maybe they should make four phones for "camera people" and four phones for "everything else is more important people".

I had to buy a MacBook Pro only because the Air had a much smaller screen. At least half a year later the 15" Air had been released, but it's still smaller... Life is hard sometimes.

This link says highest optical magnification is 2x for the base model. Does that apply to video too?
