iPhone LCD replacement question

I'm in the process of swapping the housing on my iPhone 4 and I've followed the you fix it guides and for some reason when attaching the logic board everything lines up and snaps except the digitizer. It's like the LCD connector is too wide.

Also when I look at the videos everyones digitizer cable looks longer when sticking out the top of the phone. What is the trick to get it to fit right??

There's a little cut in the cable that you need to work through the hole, otherwise it folds up on the opposite end and the cord is too short.
