I decided to google iPhone on Apple.com, and I found this:

http://translate.google.com/transla...e.com&hl=en&lr=&safe=off&client=safari&rls=en

In case it's gone, a screenshot is attached. It's the Apple Portuguese eNews from October 2005, and they actually mention "iPhone." Perhaps this shows that the iPhone name will be used. And while they're most likely talking about the ROKR in it, the way it's phrased is weird as it sounds like Apple decided to stick a phone with an iPod when really they just made software for a (crappy) Motorola phone.

Durn you for posting your screenshot that way...I spent a good 10 seconds trying to close the safari window with the buttons in your screenshot. :p.

Isn't that quite old? It's offering iTunes 5 and dated October 2005.

EDIT: sorry! you already said that. I missed the point. Can I delete this post?

Apple certainly hasn't bought out iphone.com yet... you'd think they would have done this long ago if they actually plan to announce it THIS MONDAY.

Don't think that really matters, they don't own macbookpro.com or macbook.com either and they sure seem to have two product lines with those names.

The original link is to a newsletter from 2005; it reads something like «Apple has launched an "iPhone", ie: a mobile phone with iPod features (or vice-versa) [bla bla] including a touch wheel [bla bla]» It goes on to link to a brazilian website to a newspaper where they present the Motorola ROKR and the iPod Nano.

I wonder where they saw a touchwheel on the ROKR :p

So there you have the translation made by a human instead of google :)

I think one of the most interesting leaks were from Kevin Rose on Diggnation. He said that the iPhone will come out in January, will have two batteries, and a slide-out keyboard.
