Hi all,

My iphone has been lost/stolen. (Already reported)

If some thieving git has got it and puts a new sim in it can it still be traced/blocked etc due the the phones unique IMEI number? I would love to know that the phone has been switched off permanently so they cant use it.

By the time I reported it the phone was already going through to answerphone so if someone has got it they have likely already take out my sim.

If they put a sim in using the same network provider as mine surely the provider could see it? Wouldn't it still be the same cae if they put another providers sim in?

Theiving makes me MAD and I would love for the thing not to work.

From what I understand you can report it stolen to block the IMEI from being registered again, but they will not track it.

Does that mean that if they stick another sim in as soon as it links to their network it will shut down? Or does that mean that that person has to call the provider to register the phone and IMEI and then it is cut off?

Thanks for the reply so quick

Your provider wont do a thing besides suspend your account so you dont get any charges.
If it falls to the right hands they can unlock it and use, sell it whatever.
It doesnt matter anyway, you're not going to see it again.

this might seem like a ridiculous suggestion, but......

why don't you phone your provider and ask them?
