I've looked around and haven't found an adequate answer to my question, so here goes:

I'm going to be getting an iPhone in the next couple of weeks. I'm currently using a mac as my primary laptop, but it's on it's last legs and is pretty much on life-support at the moment. Money issues don't allow me to buy another mac for quite some time, so a cheap pc it is.

When I initially sync the iPhone on my mac, what will I have to do to properly switch everything over to the pc?

Is it simply a matter of hooking it up to the pc, letting it erase the contents, and then re-sync everything?

Why not just start the iPhone out on the PC? That way you don't have to bother.

I have the money for one thing at a time and the phone is the more pressing need. I have access to other computers if need be.
