Hello,

This might take a while to explain so bare with me...I have the iPhone 4 and one of the newest versions of Macbook Pro and all of my software is updated for the OS (which also includes the Address Book Program). In my iPhone I have 516 contacts. I used to have 516 contacts in my Address Book just like my iPhone but when I looked at my Address Book today it only had 32 contacts... This has happened a few times and I have no idea why. Luckily I back up everything with an external HD.

Anyways, I decided to test everything out and troubleshoot. I knew I could get my contacts from my backup so I wasn't worried about losing them. I deleted all the contacts in the Address Book to clean it up and troubleshoot/start from scratch. I added a contact in my Address Book and with my iPhone connected went to iTunes to sync the phone to see if it would transfer over to the phone. It transferred perfectly. I did the same thing but created a contact on the iPhone and synced the phone to see if it would sync to the Address Book and it worked perfectly.

But here is the weird part... I had 516 contacts in my iPhone when I added the "TEST" contact which made it 517 contacts. When I synced the phone to the address book. The only contact that transferred was the "TEST" contact and the other 516 contacts were still in my iPhone. It would for some reason not transfer all my contacts from the phone to the Address Book like all of my "TEST" contacts that I created had worked... I then restored my iPhone to the latest backup which was today because I had been messing with all my contacts I didn't know if I had deleted any that I shouldn't have. Once the phone was restored I tried to sync the phone to the Address Book and the exact same 32 contacts and the exact same groups they were in showed up in the Address Book. I had a few more groups that I created that didn't transfer and a lot more contacts obviously. What is causing these 32 contacts to always transfer and be any more "special" than the other contacts.

Last thing, I know that I have probably inputted at least 100+ contacts in the Address Book program itself. I also know that I have inputted 100+ contacts in my iPhone as well. So if it mattered where I inputted the contacts i would still have more than 32 contacts that keep syncing to the Address Book... It is the weirdest thing and I need help because I am tired of messing with all of these problems. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks in advance and if this was confusing then maybe I could try to answer any questions to clear this up!

-John
