I have one particular mail account that only shows old emails, it will not show the most recent emails. If I select to view 50 most recent messages, it doesn't show me the actual 50 most recent messages on the server, but instead displays messages #51-100 on the server. It doesn't display the actual 50 most recent. It's doing the opposite of what I want it to.

If I ask to show 25 most recent it instead shows me messages #26-50 on the server. WTF?

iPhone displays all other mail accounts fine. The account works fine on my computer. It is IMAP.

Any ideas?

I also cannot use the "continue search on server" feature on this account like I can on my other mail accounts:confused::confused::confused::confused:

Mail.app bug....

I have a similar problem on iPhone 4 IOS 4.2.1.

IMAP Mail sync on MacOS 10.6.5 and and iPhone is broken. Each Mail.app shows different messages. iPhone messages are not the last nn that is meant to be.

It appears this is due to the way Mail.app uses dates incorrectly, which works fine if the mail on the server hasn't been moved. The problem appears to be due to Apple's Mail.app implementation to improve performance at the expense of reliability.

See:

The problem appears to be old and longstanding.
