Do you think the next iPhone after 17 will be called iPhone 2026? With 2026 Pro and 2026 E …

Seems likely; the same reasons for renumbering software are mostly valid on hardware too.

I’m just surprised they (apparently) aren’t doing both at once. Unless the rumor mill just isn’t as deep on the hardware side… maybe Tim will start off the hardware announcement with “Psych!!!”

2019 - Samsung Galaxy S10
2020 - Samsung Galaxy S20
2025 - Samsung Galaxy S25

2019 - iPhone 11 & 11 Pro
2020 - iPhone 12 & 12 Pro
2025 - iPhone 26 & 26 Pro or iPhone (2026) or iPhone (A26)

No, because we know Apple is switching to a semi-annual schedule for 2026.

18 Pro/Slim launch late in the year, while 18 base and E models launch in 2027.

In addition, there was a marketing reason to use future years for naming the OS. It was because Apple doesn't deliver the features in September each year and drag them out over the course of 6-9 months.

I would prefer below:

iPhone (2026)
iPhone Air (2026)
iPhone Pro (2026)
iPhone Pro Max (2026)

That's more in line with MacBooks and very clear to consumers I guess.
That’s what I am expecting, too.

Hasn’t Eddy Cue said that there will be no iPhone 27, though? ;) (when Ive’s io was announced) Or was it 37?
