i don't get it, why can't i access music stored on my iphone through itunes?

it's pretty normal that you want to hook up your ipod or iphone to the computer and listen on your music stored on ipod/ iphone.

???

Itunes lets you play music from an ipod only if it is set to manually manage music. If you have it set to sync (the only way it works with the iphone), you can't- all the music is ghosted out. I don't know why they do it that way; maybe its harder to program?

so that means all iphone users are "screwed" in that regard?

Any songs I have on my iPhone are already on my computer, so it's a non-issue for me.

Are you saying that you copy songs onto your iPhone, then delete them off your computer? I'm confused - why would you do that?

all the songs that i sync to my iphone are stored on a external harddrive that i don't & can't always switch on to my macbook pro.
