i just bought an iphone 3g from ebay and the description says it has version 4.1 download already. the phone though is not unlock and i am having someone unlock it for me once i get it. i have a few questions though.

1) will this be difficult to unlock?
2) what are the chances of "bricking"?
3) how can i avoid re-locking it ?
4) will it run effectively with tmobile?

please bear with me since im new at this and all help is appreciated =D

Unfortunately, that thread is not relevant for the OP.

The OP wishes to JB and unlock an iPhone 3G, which remains possible.

There is a beta JB tool for an iPhone 3G, but I remain uncertain as to whether it can be unlocked or not.

This will depend on the phone's Baseband, which if it is on 4.1 is not likely to be unlockable.

Turning then to the OP's questions;

1) Probably impossible at this stage, but let's assume for the rest of your questions that you have unlocked it;

2) Zero.

3) Don't upgrade until you are sure there is a JB and Unlock available; more importantly READING AND KEEPING UP WITH THE JB NEWS

4) T-mobile does not have 3G for iPhone, so it will be slow when you're using internet without wifit, other than that the impression I get is that it is pretty good. I wouldn't know, I'm not in America.

Since you're new, PLEASE heed this advice -- in future SEARCH AND READ before you post, if your post indicates that you haven't done so, people will flame you and you won't get any help.
