Iphone noise when making a call

I have an old 2G iphone, which works fine until recently when people started saying they couldn't hear me because of a terrible noise, I can't hear it but the other person can. If I ring back it's fine!!

WTF I see a few have had this problem, is the phone or network, any solution at all?
