iPhone Not Connecting To iTunes Properly

After backing up & restoring my iPhone 3G into my eMac (media server). I get a spinning wheel in the devices section (see pic below)

I've reinstalled iTunes to no avail. It's annoying me because it's the only Mac I have my apps on.

Any help would be appreciated.
