Iphone not recognizing Wi-Fi

All of a sudden, my iPhone will not recognize my Airport without first rebooting. This never has happened before...the two have worked seamlessly for the past year. Nothing has changed in either setup. Even weirder, the Turn On Wi-Fi setting on the iPhone, which I always have on, now sometimes turns itself to OFF. Even if I go into Settings and turn it on, it still won't hook up to Wi-fi. Only a hard reboot does the trick. Any ideas? This is a non-3G model.
