iPhone not sync;ing with iTunes 10

Hi
I've been trying to sync my iphone with iTunes 10.01 but it just hangs or doesnt recognise the iPhone at all.
I've posted on Apple Support and there seems to be lots of people with the same problem....but no answers.

Any suggestions?

Got it to Sync by tethering iPhone

I was experiementing with sync'ing my 3gs to itunes 10 and got it to work when I tethered the ipHone to my Macbook Pro.

Strange....but true
