iPhone not syncing + restore quesiton

I have an iPhone 3gs running untethered 5.0.1 redsnow jailbreak and I havent installed any mods ... about 2-3 months ago it stopped syncing with itunes.. no error messages no warnings nothing. It skips a few steps in the sycning stage I have noticed. and yes I still have 5gb free space

I have tried to restore from backup but the same problem happens.

Another question is :

If i do a full restore and have my contacts backed up on icloud, will I be able to re-synchronize them with the iCloud account or will I lose all of it?

any help appreciated :)
