Well, straight forward question..

Should I buy the iPhone now, or wait for sometime..

2 reasons holding me back right now are..

Rumours of Price Drops.. (I can only afford 430$ for the iPhone 8GB. If the 16GB Drops to 400$ soon after ill buy, Ill kick myself.)
Getting a 1.1.4 which is not unlockable without downgrading the baseband..

Reasons for me to get it right now..
Most people still getting 1.1.3 OOTB.

So what should I do?.. (I know this topic must be beaten to death, but Im really confused and I need help!)

Thanks & Regards,

wait a year, the iphone will be so much better then! as far as price drops go, apple just released a new iphone (16gb) there won't be a price drop anytime soon..

I should have mentioned, I need it soon. Like next month.

What I meant is, wait till March sometime if there may be a price drop?...

I just sold off my current phone, So I have no MP3 Player, Video Player, nothing :p.

Also, one more question.

Say I want to Encode down a DVD Rip the usual 700mb ones, to 480x320, for viewing on the iPhone, whats the best Size ill get, with good quality?

Just get it. You have my blessing.

And Quicktime Pro has an export to iPhone option, as does HandBrake so you can just use their presets without worrying about the settings.

I converted a DVD Rip, to 480x320, 512kbps Video Bitrate, and Audio at 144kbps, turns out to be around 400mb. Decent enough.
768kbps Video Bitrate = Size 550mb.

450mb is decent balance, I can fit 10 movies in just 4.5GB. Not bad. 2GB for Audio, and 1GB for other app's games etc.
Also, those movies wont stay all the while so....

Converted Song videos (33-50mb versions 480x320 to begin with, to 480x320 H264 , 512kbps Video, 160kbps audio) around 12-20mb files. Dual Pass makes it even better quality with the same size.

I guess imma getting a 8GB, tonight.. Should reach me next week!

Thanks guys!

We really need a sticky dealing with this type of question

It is asked like 5-6 times a day

People need to learn to use a search function and find the 10,000 threads asking the same exact question with the same exact fears
