I'm on a tiered data plan and this is my first smartphone and I have the lowest 2GB of Verizon, so I'm going to (at least for the first month) constantly be checking my data to make sure I'm not close to going over.

Going on Verizon's website, I see this number:

However, when checking on the phone, I see this number instead:

Which number is more reliable?

The number that if it were to be to high would end up with an increased bill. (Verizon) tends to be in your favor in this case.

How long have you had the iPhone? Do you reset the stats every month(new billing period)?

The iPhone maintains an estimate of data usage. For the sake of the customer, Apple may have designed it so that it overestimates or rounds up, just in case. This is just to ensure that you don't go over... Verizon will be billing you according to THEIR numbers, though. So whatever they say is final and most accurate.

:) Also, I hope you're enjoying your iPhone.

Ultimately, the one that's "right" is the one used to generate your bill. So, Verizon. :)
