The community got more info about Microsoft's Zune player, which should be out soon, into the holiday season. Microsoft obviously lost the Round 1 of the fight to Apple's flagship music player, iPod, coming to market app. 5 years after Apple enjoyed huge success.

Will this be the case for the future? Microsoft looks like it definitely has plans to beat Apple in this 2nd Round. Here comes the ZunePhone:

"A Zune phone is definitely part of the future of this brand," Chris Stephenson, general manager of global marketing for Zune, told reporters at a news conference. He did not give specific details.

Microsoft on Thursday unveiled the Zune portable media player and said it will be on sale in the United States this holiday shopping season. Movie downloads will not be part of the first Zune product.

Microsoft already have mobile phones out there. O2 make various XDA phones (even a small "normal" phone size) and Orange have had their own Windows SmartPhone models named SPV.

So while Microsoft don't produce the actual hardware themselves they do have their software out on many phones already.

well I can tell you this--the fact that one of those products up there is totally fake doesn't bode well for Apple. :)
