Hi,
Ok, so I let my Apple iPhone behind and moved over to the new Blackberry BOLD.
Berry Messenger was fun for a while, and it was handy to get work email delivered to me (sadly only OWA rather than BES if you're asking, but hey) - however I found that I really missed my iPhone 1st Gen.
So I tried using the iPhone just as an iPod which brought back some of the fun.
Now my Mac addiction is growing again (releasing new MacBooks hasn't helped) so I'm ditching the Blackberry (it's on eBay if you're interested) and returning to my iPhone. But now I want the new one!!!!!!
"Just pop to the store and get one then" I hear you say. Well I would but I don't want to use O2 as my network. My employer is Orange UK, and I'd rather stay with then with my staff tariff.
Next attempt. Get one from Italy. This would be my ideal solution, but my personal opinion is that the sellers are making too much profit at the moment. I mean the phone itself it only 569 Euro (about £445), so to see them being sold for well over £100 profit - and delivery on top. I feel is slightly unreasonable. Just my opinion though.
I even checked how much it would cost to fly out to italy, pick one up and then fly home. And even that adds over £100 to the price.
Leaving me with only 1 real option (which is financially viable) - Buy the iPhone from the UK on Pay As You Go, and then get a Turbo SIM.
I've been trying to avoid the Turbo SIM option, just in case something happens in the future which prevents them from working and you end up with an iPhone you can't use. Also a friend of mine had the Turbo SIM in his iPhone 3G and he said the Data Services weren't working and he had to reboot the phone at least twice a day. He now has a iPod Touch (silver back, latest version) and a Blackberry BOLD, but I really don't want to carry two devices - it's annoying.
I'm wondering if anyone here is using the iPhone 3G with a Turbo SIM and what issues you've had if any? Are you using it on Orange UK? Do all data services function as they should? Any issues with Sync'ing back to your PC / Mac via iTunes?
Cheers in advance
