Hi ,
I am in vacation in Paris ( from Canada) and saw at the the Orange store the Iphone for 99 Euros.I asked the person working there if I could ''activate'' it on Itunes and he said yes . My question is : would I be able to buy the iphone at 99 euros in France , bring it back to Canada and unlock it to use it on another network ?

Thanks
Majinoo

No, this will most certainly not work. The 3G iPhone will be Sim or carrier locked. An unlock method is not yet known.

Edit: Or do you mean the original 1st gen iPhone? You can easily unlock it.

for that price theres no way they will actually let you walk out of the shop without signing something!

the good old days have gone, sadly!

well, I doubt they'll go after him in Canada if he signs a contract that defaults on it. That being said, they probably won't let him sign a contract if he is from Canada and is just a tourist...
