I was at this site on my iPhone 3G:

And I noticed that the embedded YouTube video wasn't a "plugin missing" thing anymore, and instead it's a button you can tap that brings up the YouTube player and plays the video from within Safari.
It no longer closes Safari and opens Youtube, it's actually "embedded!"
