iPhone Phone Number

When I view my iPhone details in iTunes (and on top of contacts list on my phone) my phone number displayed as +44 7777 777777. Will it matter if I change it to this format 07777 777777 (removing the country code)

Is it just a visual thing? or will I get problems when visiting other countries if I remove the country code?

I personally wouldn't bother changing it.

I changed mine in the manner you describe and it was changed back the next time I synced with iTunes.
