The Camera Roll stores photos/videos that were captured by your iPhone. The Camera Roll also stores photos saved from a received email, from a website, or from a received MMS/iMessage.

If I have 1800 photos in my Camera Roll and I lose my phone or my phone breaks....then purchase a new phone, will my Camera Roll photos be restored?

I guess what I'm asking is this:

Is it necessary to back-up all my photos to a PC or can I just rely on iCloud back-ups to maintain my thousands of photos i have on the Camera Roll?

Get PhotoSync, makes photo transfer / backup to almost anything easy peasy.

that didn't address the question i was asking.

I'm curious if i just save all my 1800 photos to camear roll and not on my PC. And if i lose my phone, i want to be sure that i can just buy a new phone and restore from backup and it'll put all those 1800 photos back on.

U should backup on pc aswell. Once i lost all pics saved on icloud. They wasn,t restored for some reason. Up to u
