a simulacrum
right, so i've read various topics that mention organizing your photos from your iphone using iphoto, or syncing with a folder you stick your pics in with image capture...
let me first tell you what i want to do and then my problem with iPhoto
the sequence goes like this in my mind:

1. i have 2 or 3 albums on iPhoto named iPhone-people, iPhone-misc, iPhone-funny (or something like that)
2. i connect my iphone, drag and drop photos from it to the albums i want based on their content
3. delete them from the camera roll
4. sync the iPhone with these albums through iTunes

so in doing this i still have the photos on my phone but in their respective albums and i empty the camera roll.
Every time i plug the phone in after that i just drop the photos in their albums, delete them from the camera roll, sync with itunes and i'm ready to go.

now, one of the problems is this, iPhoto makes events every time you import photos, right? so i'll end up with a bunch of date titled events in the Events section of iPhoto every time i sync and organize my phone pics, right?
i don't really want that, my events are nice and neat as they are...

i've also read of using smart albums to pull all your iphone pics, but that's not what i want, i want to split them up
into theme-specific albums...

i suppose i could have an event titled 'iphone photos" and merge any new events that get created with every sync with that event and keep all the photos there... but that doesn't seem that intuitive to me...

so, any ideas?

EDIT: if i drag a photo from the iphone's camera roll or one of the albums(that i hope i can create) into a smart folder that draws photos from an event, will that photo be placed into the event or be placed in a new event?
