I just got an iphone ( EDGE not 3g) and I want to get the data plan for it, but don't want to pay $30. Can I still get the EDGE iphone plan for $20, or did AT&T quit that?

that's what I thought, but I need soomebody to confirm this before I go all the way to the AT&T store.
true, but last time, the AT&T store told me BR would have mobile TV service for my VU....
It was banned from the city 3 months earlier.
Not true for an EDGE phone. You can still get the $20 plan. Only 3G and above require the $30 dollar plan.
Edit: Oh, and IIRC, jmann works for AT&T, so that should tell you something, since he also thought the $20 plan was available.

It is because you have the $30 iPhone data plan which does not include the 200 SMS Txt package.
If you want the 200 SMS Txt package to be free aka included in the $20 iPhone data plan, you have to have the original iPhone data plan instead of the $30 iPhone data plan that you currently have on your line.

So, is there any way to talk a CSR into letting me upgrade the 4 2G iphones on my plan to 4 3GS's and keep my EDGE plan? I'm not trying to sneak one by or anything. 3G is not available where I live and I refuse to pay $60 per month more for a service I can't use.
You can try talking them into it but they wont do it.
Even if you tell them theres no 3G coverage or whatever excuse you come up with.
Unless you buy the 3GS's full price without contract off ebay or whatever and then stick your sim cards from the 2G iphone to the 3GS.
But they'll eventually catch on to that wether that takes weeks or a few months. They do periodical scans.

Yes the plan is $20 and it includes texts, but AT&T won't even let me turn the phone on unless I add it. Is there any way to get around this so I can make sure it works right?

actually, that is for the 3g. my edge iphone is $20 a month and does come with 200 texts.
Still, id rather not pay for this, so does anyone know how to unlock it without being activated?
