Hi all,

Owner of iPhone 7+ thinking of finally upgrading and considering the iPhone Pro or Max. I went to the store to hold both, and more or less, the dimensions of the Max phone are very similar to my 7+. There's a bit more weight to the Max, and the squared off edges give it a different feel, but with the Max it doesn't seem like I would be carrying much more around in my pocket than I am used to. As for the Pro, it's still a bigger screen overall than the 7+ (given no more home button, etc), so not entirely ruling it out. With my eyes aging, I think I could use all the screen I can carry.

If you were a iPhone Plus user and upgraded to the Max size, has the upgrade felt like a pretty seamless transition? Still happy sticking with the larger screen in slightly different squarish form factor? Or did you decide to size down after years with the Plus model?

Uhhh

You better read through this thread before dumping your 7+.
OLED iPhones don’t agree with everyone.

I switched to the 12 pro max and have no regrets, came from an 8+. Of course, everyone is different, but my guess is that most users will be equally fine with OLED.

I went (indirectly) from an 8+ to a 13 Pro Max.

It's a terrific phone, and a terrific screen. This may be unhelpful(!) but for me, the 13 Pro Max is right on the threshold for being too big. I seriously considered the regular 13 Pro, and I think I would have enjoyed that too, having something a bit more comfortable to handle. But ultimately, I like the bigger screen for things like editing photos. A bit more battery life is a nice bonus too.

I say, trust your first impressions. You tried it, it felt fine - that sounds good!

I don't think you'd regret either purchase, but if the Pro Max felt good, I'd go with that.

I would suggest sticking to the Max to get the maximum screen size, while this graphic is from the 12 series the 13 Max is slightly thicker and heavier as you mentioned. Though if you felt it was too big/heavy you can get the regular 6.1" 13 without sacrificing too much screen real estate coming from the 7 Plus.

Thanks everyone... helpful comments, and this graphic also adds more perspective. Yeah, I put my 7+ on top of the 13 Max, and the size difference was minimal to the point that if I didn't know the actual dimensions, I would have thought the 7+ and Max were the same.

I'll look into OLED technology more -- good to consider regarding the eye strain.

Looks like you’re leaning towards the Max, I don’t blame you and would probably do the same just because. I upgraded my wife’s 6s to the 13pro on launch day and I think the size is perfect. The battery life is insane and the cameras are the same so it’s a coin flip between size/weight to larger screen/battery. I’m still sporting my 7+ and will probably hold on to it until the 15 comes out. Until then, I just grab her phone whenever I want to take good photos. ?

Haha, nice on keeping the 7+ for a while longer. Mostly, like you, I wanted to update for the better camera and my 7+ battery has seen better days. Disappointed to read the assorted quality control issues though.... in my younger days, I'd do the return game, but don't have that energy anymore.
