iPhone Pre Order Question

I currently live in New Jersey and am going on vacation on June 24th to San Diego. I already have an iPhone 3G and am eligible for the upgrade. If I pre-order a 4G for an in store pickup in the San Diego Apple Store, would they be able to activate the phone despite my AT&T account being based in New Jersey?
