iPhone pretty much died

So, I will start by saying, Yes I am dumb and I am stupid, etc.

I was hanging with all my friends and left my iphone on the car when i was throwing somehting away. We talked some more, and of course, I forgot it. We drove off, and 15 mins later, I drive back like a mad man praying it was okay.

The phone was totaled. The screen is kaput and the corners are severely scratched.

My question for everyone is this: Can I get a replacement for the subsidized price from Apple, or no? This is a brand new iPhone 3GS

No. You may have been able to get that $199 screen replacement, which right now appears to be a whole new phone but you're going to have to pay for the phone outright now.

Your best bet, if you insist on getting another, is to cancel your contract and open a new account. I understand you can port your number but some are saying it's not instant some are saying it is. I am unsure.
