iphone prices on ebay

just bored and looking for a deal when i noticed pretty much every winning bid or soon to close auction actually goes higher then what you can order them online for at the Apple site.
Even the buy it now actions are price considerably higher than apple. Over $1000 for an unlocked 4s.

Am i missing something or people on ebay crazy?

Well the thing is you cant technically buy factory unlocked 4S iphones in the US yet.
So some people take advantage of it and as you can see there's suckers out there that will pay those high prices.

i wonder where these people are getting multiple units to sell on ebay at highly inflated prices

Not yet, you cant order them unlocked.
It will be announced when they are available in the US.

Canada and other countries and there's a way to get it at US Apple stores but they are not supposed to be selling them unlocked yet.
Some Apple store locations or reps do though.
