Hello,

I'm wondering if anyone could help me get a good price or deal on an unlocked 16Gb iPhone 4S from an Apple store.

I have an iPhone 3G with a cracked screen. I could fix the screen and sell the unit on eBay for £50-80 (or there abouts).

However, I noticed on Apples website that they will offer 10% discount off an iPod if you give them your old iPod/Mobile phone (any make) for recycling. http://www.apple.com/uk/recycling/ipod-cell-phone/

Off the price of a 16Gb iPhone 4S this would bring the price down to roughly £450. I've rang a local branch (lakeside) who say that this 10% discount only applies to iPods and not iPhones. But surely iPhones are iPods, just as they are also breakthrough communications/internet devices. Grumpy man at lakeside wasn't having any of it.

So, does anyone know if Apple have any other exchange/buy your old mobile schemes that would apply in store, even to slightly damaged equipment? It would save me the hassle of getting my screen fixed, listing it on ebay, avoiding fraudsters etc. Or any other haggles or tips to get a discount in store?

Thank you!
