iPhone Remote App Keyboard Double-Typing on AppleTV

I'm having a very strange issue. I use the Remote App on my iPhone to control my AppleTV. When I'm in YouTube on AppleTV, I love that I can use the keyboard on my phone in the search field. My phone works perfectly, but if my wife uses her phone, everything she types doubles on the AppleTV. She'll start to type the word "direction" and when she is half-way through, "direction" will appear twice on the screen. This happens with letters, words, etc. She has an iPhone 5s running iOS 8.1.2. Anyone else have this issue or know any solutions?
