In the past 2 weeks MacRumors posted an article about Apple introducing a new iPhone repair part that was made up of the rear enclosure and logic board and would likely be used for repairs that were previously swap-only - now I can't find it anywhere even after scanning the archive list of posts. Can anyone help me with the link please

I got the back glass on my XS Max replaced yesterday at a third party shop. Cost $100 and the phone looks great. Much better than the $600 Apple wanted to charge me, so they could waste some jet fuel to China to refurbish it. Then fly it back to the US for some sucker to spend $600 on. So much for being environmentally friendly.

And I can do it 3 more times before I reach the cost of Applecare+ with 2 deductibles. :p

As long as it's repaired on the same day and quickly, don't have a issue with it.

What happens when you run into a serious issue with your phone, apple won't even look at your phone because you repaired it else where, agree with you on the back glass replacement, it's stupidly crazy expensive.

It’s already out of warranty, so Apple wouldn’t do anything for me anyways. I no longer trust the integrity of the water resistance after a 3rd party repair but that was the trade off to save $500 IMO.
