iphone repaired product return pending

I sent my phone to Apple yesterday because of the loose home button and a nick out of the box and they just received it earlier today but I'm not sure what "Repaired product return pending" means. Does that mean they just repaired the device I sent in, or are they sending me a new/refurb?
My thoughts are the just repaired the home button but didn't see the nick!?

Well, how was the return? Did they send you a new device or your old nicked device?

In case, your iPhone need to fix. They will fix it and return your old iPhone to you.

In case, your iPhone can't fix. They will return you with the new one. (but i'm not sure it's a new one or refurb)
